For this year's Murfee Worsham screening, we present Orson Welles' film noir masterpiece which Charleston Heston plays a noble Mexican narcotics cop and the director himself plays one of the most outlandish villains in screen history. Also starring Marlene Dietrich, Janet Leigh, and a host of cameos. “Welles’s first American production in a decade is a garish, flamboyant thriller which has something but not very much to do with drugs and police corruption in a border town. What it really has to do with is love of the film medium and its stylistic possibilities; and if Welles can’t resist the candy of shadows and angles and baroque décor, he turns it into stronger fare than most director’s solemn meat and potatoes” – Pauline Kael, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
