NetID, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iCal, Google Apps, Yahoo mail, Esther, Facebook, LinkedIn, bank accounts, Frequent Flyer Miles. Can you count the number of sites or accounts you participate in that require a password? If one of your rarely used passwords is compromised, either accidentally or through a breakin on the host site, how secure are your other passwords? Do you use a common password for everything or a password habit that is easily guessed? (Example: if the password for all your accounts is the name of that site or vendor, like google, yahoo, wellsfargo, etc., then if one is hacked, your others are easily guessed.)
Join Rice University's IT Security Officer, Marc Scarborough, for this presentation on a secure application to manage all your passwords and an easy trick for building secure passwords for everyday use.
