Rice's Human Resources Department is again providing FREE seasonal flu shots for benefits eligible faculty, staff and Rice retirees. Non-benefits eligible faculty and staff and all spouses/domestic partners can also get seasonal flu shots at cost ($22 per shot) by paying for the shot at the time of service (cash, check or credit card accepted).
For Fall of 2011, seasonal flu shots are scheduled for the following dates/times/locations:
Wednesday, September 28, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Grand Hall in the RMC/Ley Student Center
Thursday, September 29, 8:00 am to Noon, Grand Hall in the RMC/Ley Student Center
Monday, October 10, 8:00 am to Noon, FE&P Training Room (next to the Facilities, Engineering and Planning Building)
Shots are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Who knew? = Lines tend to be shorter during the lunch hour!
Please read the website for information prior to the seasonal flu shot administration.
Note: If you are pregnant, you will need to provide an original doctor's note (no fax copies accepted) stating that you may receive the flu shot to be inoculated at Rice.
If you cannot make one of the sessions above or if you want to vaccinate your other family members, please coordinate a seasonal flu shot visit with a nurse in your doctor's office -- Aetna will pay 100% of the cost of the vaccine and administration by a nurse (meaning no copayment!) for anyone covered in Rice's health insurance.
You can also go to your local network pharmacy and ask them to charge the vaccine to your EnvisionRx plan, and the plan will also pay for your seasonal flu vaccine.
Note, also, the CDC key facts regarding the seasonal flu vaccine: www.cdc.gov/flu/keyfacts.htm.
