The Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies and the Institute for Energy Economics, Japan host a discussion on the shifting patterns of energy use in Asia and the consequences for global energy markets. Speakers will focus on regional economic development and associated energy demands, deepening liquidity of energy commodity markets, growing international efforts to address greenhouse gas emissions, country-specific internal pressures to address local air pollution and the evolution of regional geopolitical relationships. Taken together, the presentations will address a series of issues that will be vital to informing a view of future Asian – and global – energy market balance.
