Israel, Syria and the Larger Middle East: From Rabin to the Present
Thursday, March 30, 2017
to 8:00 PM
6100 Main St
Houston, Texas, USA
More than two decades have passed since the assassination of Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, yet he remains an unusually intriguing and admired modern leader. At this lecture hosted by the Center for the Middle East, one of his closest aides, Itamar Rabinovich, will discuss the Israeli prime minister's life as recounted in his newly released book "Yitzhak Rabin: Soldier, Leader, Statesman." Rabinovich will provide new insights into Rabin’s relationships with world leaders, his peace policy toward Syria and the Palestinians, and the repercussions of his death for Israeli politics. Using the ongoing Syrian crisis as a prism, he will also discuss major issues present in the Middle East today.
A book signing and reception will follow the presentation. Copies of the book are available for purchase courtesy of the Rice University Bookstore.
