Rice 360° Global Health Design Competition

National and international student teams will present technologies they have designed to address pressing global health challenges of our time. Judges from industry, academia and medicine will evaluate the designs! Preliminary rounds begin at 9:00 am! Finalist presentations, keynote speaker, awards and a reception run from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Biography of Tore Lærdal:
Tore Lærdal is a world leader in developing programs that save infants’ lives. Part of a broad public-private partnership, Lærdal helped develop Helping Babies Breathe, a training program for birth attendants in low-resource countries that focuses on The Golden Minute—the first moments after birth. Working closely with organizations like USAID, Save the Children and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Mr. Lærdal is an example of how linking business to a wider, social purpose can create exceptional results – for both business and society. Mr. Lærdal is the executive director of the Lærdal Foundation and chairman of Lærdal Medical, and the winner of the 2016 Oslo Business for Peace Prize.
