Houston Palestine Film Festival will have two sets of screenings on Saturday, May 6:
At 4 pm - 'Radiance of Resistance', by Jesse Roberts, on the plight of children living under occupation in Nabi Saleh village, followed by the short film, 'Returning to Seifa Village', a profile of young Gazans returning to their village after an attack in 2014.
At 7 pm - 'Gaza Surf Club' a documentary by Philip Gnadt and Mickey Yamine chronicling the world of Gazan surfing enthusiasts as they navigate the challenges and restrictions of daily life under siege accompanied by 'Gaza a Gaping Wound', a short film by photojournalists Ann Paq and Ala Qandil that draws attention to the families from Gaza whose lives were shattered during the Israeli offensive in 2014. The film was chosen for the Respect Belfast Human Rights Film Festival.
Also on the agenda for May 6 is a photography exhibit that is part of the Obliterated Families project, which highlights the 142 families that lost three or more of their members in 2014. Photojournalist and filmmaker Ala Qandil will be on hand to greet audience members and answer questions about the film and photography exhibit. The screenings will be followed by a reception and discussion of major themes.
