Jill Carroll, Ph.D., Associate Director of the Boniuk Center for Religious Tolerance at Rice University addressed the issue of Violence and Religion in a Boniuk Community Lecture in co-operation with First Unitarian Universalist Church at 5200 Fannin Street, Houston, TX 77004. Lecture will begin at 7 p.m. |
Biography of Jill Carroll: Dr. Jill Carroll is the Associate Director of the Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance at Rice University. She is also Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Rice. In addition to teaching at Rice, she has taught widely in the Houston area, including at all campuses of the University of Houston system, The Women’s Institute of Houston, The Jung Center of Houston, and in the Texas State prison system. For several years, through the Boniuk Center and through her own company, she has provided religious diversity training to corporations, schools, and groups.
Her forthcoming book is "A Dialogue of Civilizations: Gulen's Islamic Ideals and Humanistic Discourse" (The Light, Inc., May 2007). She is also the author of "The Savage Side: Reclaiming Violent Models of God", (Rowman & Littlefield. 2002). |
