Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB) air interface has been defined by 3GPP2 recently. Based on OFDMA, UMB combines the latest data transmission techniques to achieve high spectral efficiency along with enhanced user experience in terms of latency, data rates, battery life and robust operation in mobile wireless environments. This talk provides a brief overview of PHY/MAC design principles and highlights salient features offered by UMB.
